This afternoon a group met across the street from the Kansas City Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City to “welcome” Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke to Kansas City.

The protest event was promoted to be an “angry mob parody” but the small group of about 35 everyday people were all friendly.  They were   concerned with how the Federal Reserve is affecting the economy and how little transparency it has.

Watch the video below to see KCPT’s Nick Haines describe how the 40 people were selected to ask questions of Mr. Bernanke.  Mr. Haines said many were picked because they were suffering from the current economy, but several small business people were also invited.  About 200 were in the audience.

On Friday I videotaped ten questions for Mr. Bernacke from a protest rally nearby at Congressman Dennis Moore‘s (D-KS) office in Overland Park.  A  group of about 115 gave Congressmen Moore 1100 signatures on an “audit the fed” petition.

A young man can be seen in the video today passing out flyers to those entering the Kansas City Federal Reserve.   He was later asked to leave.  He tells his story in the video.

Several in the protest crowd offered their questions for Ben Bernancke:
