HELENA — Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer says he’s bringing the Big Sky to the Big Apple.

Schweitzer is in New York this week to promote Montana’s tourism industry and is hitting several major media outlets along the way.

The governor with the Naked CowboyHe will visit the “Late Show with David Letterman” on Wednesday to discuss the Treasure State’s offerings to tourists, though the conversation could stray to the governor’s recent comments tying GOP presidential Mitt Romney to a polygamist commune in northern Mexico.
He also appeared on CNN and CNBC this week.
Schweitzer hit Times Square on Tuesday, accompanied by semi-trucks and trailers enveloped in scenic murals of Montana’s natural landscape. He handed out jerky and other state goods, including Huckleberry jam.
The governor also met up with the infamous Naked Cowboy, a man who dons a cowboy hat, a guitar and a pair of white underpants as he serenades passersby on New York City streets.
MSNBC took notice of the governor’s Times Square charade; a “Rachel Maddow Show” producer tweeted midday that he procured some of Schweitzer’s tasty jerky.
