Federal stimulus dollars were used to help out-of-work congressional districts in Indiana, according to Recovery.gov. The stimulus provided $1.2 million to the 10th District, which was eliminated following the 2000 census.
There were, however, four other non-existent districts that received funds, including three that never existed. The 18th District, for example, was given $2.2 million. Indiana’s population would have to double, in order to have 18 districts.
A Watchdog study revealed 440 non-existent congressional districts within the stimulus tracking web site, recovery.org. The full report can be found here and below:
