Normally Congressional District 00 is a title suited for states with one at-large congressional district, think Alaska. Recovery.gov, the web site tasked with monitoring the stimulus bill, seems to think that New York, with its 29 congressional districts, should share in the action. And action is what they got, as New York‘s 00 District produced 31 jobs after taking home $3.8 million in stimulus funds. District 00, along with 10 others, represents the latest development in the emergence of non-existent districts taking home stimulus money:
00 congressional district 31 $3,828,364
36th congressional district 16 $1,283,887
32nd congressional district 0 $1,174,675
34th congressional district 2 $928,032
31st congressional district 2.3 $800,614
30th congressional district 50.4 $601,064
71st congressional district 44.5 $553,987
38th congressional district 0 $273,744
45th congressional district 0 $134,452
55th congressional district 0 $37,810
51st congressional district 0 $28,477
A Watchdog study revealed 440 non-existent congressional districts within the stimulus tracking web site, recovery.org. The full report can be found here and below:
