AUSTIN — The Texas Auditor’s Office cited 11 weaknesses at the Texas Education Agency for reporting daily attendance at more than 1,025 public school districts in 2009.
Three years later, the agency has addressed just four of the issues cited in that report. The TEA response reveals that several of the unfinished items have a projected completion date of Sept. 1.
Auditing of daily attendance is a significant issue, because student enrollment is the foundation for the school-funding formula.
