AUSTIN — School district leaders in Texas now have a wider net of blame for school funding woes: the federal government.
The Texas Education Agency alerted more than 1,000 school districts statewide one week ago that it will withhold 10 percent of all federal funds from the beginning of the 2012-13 school year.
TEA leaders aren’t revealing the amount of money yet, because TEA is waiting on the U.S. Department of Education.
“It’s all very speculative at this point,” said TEA spokeswoman Debbie Ratcliffe.
