NM: Bogus audit befuddles finance authority

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Finance Authority board was left with no answers regarding a fraudulent audit sent to the State Auditor’s Office.

Monday’s emergency meeting did not address:

  • How far off the numbers were on the bogus document;
  • If the document was the work of one rogue NMFA employee;
  • How NMFA should get to the bottom of the whole mess.

All board members met for the first time at this meeting after the story broke Thursday.
