The Recall’s “Music Man”?

By   /   December 23, 2010  /   11 Comments

Omaha Mayor Jim Suttle’s lawyer called him the “Music Man.” And no, it wasn’t a compliment.

His real name is Paul Jacob, the man who came to Omaha from Virginia to spearhead the paid petition portion of the drive to recall the Mayor.

Jacob is a nationally known conservative activist and the President of Citizens in Charge.

But according to Vince Powers, Suttle’s lawyer in the recall case, Jacob ran an illegal “pay per signature” operation for the Mayor Suttle Recall Committee.

Following his stop on the witness stand during the recall trial at the Douglas County Courthouse this week, Jacob spoke with Nebraska Watchdog’s Joe Jordan.

Editor’s note: Douglas County District Court Judge Peter Bataillon is scheduled to announce his ruling in the Suttle recall case at 1:30 p.m. Thursday (today). Nebraska Watchdog will have complete coverage of the judge’s decision.

Oh boy, now the Republicdummies are going to pay and pay big time. Hurray for Mayor Suttle, and Boos to the Republicdummies who oppose him.

  • Typical remarks from a tax sucking demonrat!!!

Dear OFD & PROUD, – – – – – SHUT UP!! Stifle yourself! The image of the Omaha Firefighter is tarnished and damaged enough. You’re doing more harm than good to what’s left of that image with your poorly formed opinion, name calling and bullying tactics. Have you forgotten the “FIREFIGHTER’S CODE OF ETHICS” which in part states: “I will never act officiously or permit personal feelings, prejudices, animosities or friendships to influence my decisions.”

  • Fireman Freddy

I’m with you OFD. These dirty trick politicians in little ole Omaha are still upset that the Daubster did not get elected. Today the court will rule in Mayor Suttle favor than all those Republican tricksters can can back under the rocks they came from.

  • John Q. Public

Dear OFD & Tarnished – The ones most likely to pay are the firefighters following in your footsteps. The sins of greed and corruption that permeates the leadership and senior firefighters will be visited upon your juniors and they’ll come to curse you as much as the taxpayers.

    OFD & Stupid,

Let’s see OFD, your union just filed another suit in front of the CIR demanding unearned and undeserved back pay increases and benefits. Your union has given Mayor Moron tens of thousands of dollars and countless hours of “volunteer” manpower. Your new ridiculously over-priced/over-staffed union contract hinges on Mayor Moron staying in office. That makes you an expert observer for sure…LOL!!! Get a clue you moron, everyone is on to OFD lies and thievery.

Instead of answering the charges of why he’s being recalled Suttle instead says recall petition fraud. With such a weak and stupid argument he will need a lazy incompetent judge to help him. Did ya see the omahalights festival commercial on TV where they say Suttle was the producer? Producer? Laff, another big stretch.

I wish it was mentioned that the time constraint was also a reason to bring in outside help. With a deadline and also the active protest by those obstructing the folks getting the signitures created a need for the help. Also the election cycle wich the calculation for signitures was a higher one being a presidential year. During a presidential year electiion more voters show up and that made for a higher number of signitures to get. If the percentage would have been calculated on a non-presidential election the number would likely have been lowwer as records show.

    Hey Joe,

Try not to show your TRUE Colors so much when doing interviews. The leading Spin Questions are making you look like a SHILL for Mayor Moron & I’m sure that that’s not your intention now is IT???? UNBIASED OBJECTIVITY Joe, Isn’t that what they taught you in journalism school????

Back in Feburary, the Mayor and the Fire Union president were hand in hand saying that the contract was all but done. Ten months latter, it doesn’t seem that the contract is any closer and the fire fighters have sued the city again. The $4.5 million that the city could be on the hock for is just for 2010. That doesn’t count what the city could be responsible for for the 2009 lawsuit at the CIR. If the firefighters get another $4.5 million for 2009, then the city could be on the hook for nearly $10 million.
