Video Special: Pipeline Gets Earful in Atkinson

If it was up to several hundred people crammed into a Sandhills gym for several hours Thursday night, the controversial Keystone XL pipeline would be built in someone else’s backyard or not built at all.

The U.S. State Department’s final public hearing on the $7 billion project was held in the tiny town (population 1,000) of Atkinson where those backing the pipeline were clearly outnumbered.

Nebraska Watchdog’s Joe Jordan reports.

    just increase the number of inspections of the pipeline at the aquifer. as evidenced by Solyndra, solar power ain’t gonna cut it. you can charge a razor with solar, but you can’t start the compressor in your A/C system with solar or wind power.

    What about how farmers have been polluting this part of the country for 60 years with toxic farm chemicals?? The drinking water in Omaha is one of the worst in the US! What about protesting that??>? Americans suck up more energy than the rest of the World combined what about that? Got to drive that gas/diesel guzzling macho truck & that pig car, what about that. You want cheap gas & diesel let the pipe through & stop busting your own balls already! You want to do the right thing then start conserving & stop wasting EVERYTHING & demand CLEAN FUEL like Solar & Wind. BTW; Frank, you can start & run the compressor on your AC with Solar & Wind electricity but what’s wrong with a little sweat? Did your Grandparents have AC? How long did they live? 80, 90+? What are you anyway, some sort of Candy Ass?? Burning fossil fuel IS killing the Planet but until you idiots get serious about changing that, one has to do what one has to do. I’ll also bet that 80% of you protesting the pipeline don’t accept the fact of Climate Change like Heine man & that imbecile Bruning & all you other Repubes Reps who are all political Whores!!
