Even as Omaha School Board President Freddie Gray fights to keep her job, Nebraska Watchdog has learned that a short list of possible successors is already surfacing.
The list includes OPS vice-president Mary Morrissey and board members Marian Fey and Justin Wayne.
Nebraska Watchdog has spoken with Fey and Wayne who refuse to comment about the situation.
Morrissey has not been available.
It appears the 12 member board will vote on Gray’s future next Monday.
Nebraska Watchdog is told it will take eight votes to oust Gray who is fighting off charges that she withheld information about the sexy emails that led to the resignation of superintendent-to-be Nancy Sebring.
By Nebraska Watchdog’s count it’s currently 6-4 in favor of Gray with two votes undecided.
At Monday’s meeting Fey and Morrissey (see video below) backed Gray’s handling of the Sebring saga.
But Wayne said Gray was no longer able to lead the 12 member board as it looks to hire a permanent superintendent; former Ralston Superintendent Virginia Moon has been hired as the interm superintendent.
