HELENA — Democratic Gov. Brian Schweitzer on Tuesday took some political jabs at several adversaries, announcing the state had a $453 million fund balance at the close of the fiscal year, and kicking off what he called his “I told you so” tour.
But House Speaker Mike Milburn, R-Cascade, said in a telephone interview with Montana Watchdog that much of the credit for the healthy ending fund balance should go to the Legislature, which he said trimmed the budget that the governor proposed.
