GRAFTON, N.H. — The lead sponsor of New Hampshire’s proposed soda tax is pushing that very same tax as part of her campaign to return to the state House.
Democrat Catherine Mulholland, who represented Grafton from 2004 until 2010, sees a 2 percent tax on soft drinks as a natural extension of New Hampshire’s sin taxes on alcohol and tobacco.
“To be addicted to sugar is just as bad as being addicted to alcohol or tobacco,” Mulholland argues.
