Joe, i don’t agree with you calling medicare an ‘entitlement program’.

  • ToucheTurtle

Medicare is not an “entitlement program”??? What in the H#LL do you call it when a program is, for the most part, paid for about American taxpayers through their federal income taxes! The miniscule amount paid through payroll deductions wouldn’t even cover the cost of the staff who oversee the program so who do you THINK pays for the actual medical care received by seniors!!! The Tooth Fairy?? Wake up and SMELL the coffee!!!!!

  • Kevin

Medicare is not an entitlement, nor is Social Security. These are programs for those who have worked.

Medicaid, oh the other hand, is most definitely. This is for those who choose not to work.

  • ToucheTurtle

Hey Kevin . . . I would like to see the EXACT amount of money each senior would receive via Medicare and Social Security if those payments were actually based on the money now on hand and being paid in by working citizens!!! Want to make a bet how much each check would actually be????

If these are NOT entitlement programs, then WHY is it a budgetary problem for this country?? Who pays the bill when the funds coming in through payroll deductions does not cover the expense anymore . . . like now???

  • Kevin

Its a budgetary problem because the the funds are not specifically allocated for those means. The government has been using the social security funds as their blank check.

Of course, this has been in the news for decades. Not sure how you could have missed it.

Medicare and Social Security are not entitlements,Joe. What is lost when you say it is? The fact that it is an insurance plan into which we pay premiums. If to little was/is being charged gutless Congressman like Lee Terry should end their exemptions on paying and those once incomes exceed the amount of 120,000.00 ( either it is this amount or very close)

  • Momma Dee

If you listen to what Joe says, it is “entitlements, social security and medicare” He is not calling social security and medicare entitlements. All three areas need to be seriously looked at. Anyone who thinks we can spend and tax our way out these problems is fooling themselves.

Paul Ryan was a great selection for veep…and he will tell the truth to the American people. He is ‘extreme’ according to the liberals and what do they think barry obama is? Marxist my word for him and beyond extreme…Hopefully no second term because I don’t want to live in the America obama wants

  • Fullerton Flash

A “loser” in the Paul Ryan selection is Lee Terry. Both Ryan and Terry have been in Congress 14 years. Ryan has used that time to work his way up to Chairman of the House Budget Committee and now VP candidate on the 2012 Republican ticket. As for what Lee Terry has accomplished in his 14 years, you fill in the rest……

I couldn’t agree with you more. If Ewing’s campaign is on top of it they’ll bring this up.
