Police: Arrest made in racial slur investigation

According to Omaha police a 78-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with a racial slur aimed at Congressional candidate John Ewing.

The woman, who lives near 98th and Fort St., has been cited for destruction of property, a misdemeanor.

She has not been available for comment.]

Nebraska Watchdog has learned that Omaha police have a suspect in a case involving a racial slur apparently aimed at Congressional candidate John Ewing, who is black.

According to a photo obtained from the Ewing campaign a graffiti message recently written on a northwest Omaha garage door said, “Don’t put the (n-word) sign back up.”

Ewing’s campaign says the homeowner had put up a Ewing yard sign during the primary and took it down after the May 15 vote.

Both Ewing and his opponent, Republican Congressman Lee Terry, have condemned the incident which Ewing believes to be an isolated case.

Police expect to release more details soon

    They haven’t mentioned the race of the woman. That’s pretty important in a story about race – hope that’s in the details to come.

    And Terry deserves another term? Ya gotta be kidding! If you had any open-mindedness, you would realize that Ewing is a conservative Democrat who would work across the aisle to solve our country’s problems and not just occupy the seat like Lee Terry, who sits there drinking Tea!

    They say that the family has children and grandchildren of different and mixed races, so race issues within the family a non existent. It is just the little old lady that was overwhelmed with the nations reverse discrimination against its citizens.
