MI: Firefighters get holiday for their birthdays

LANSING — Every Saginaw Fire Department union member gets a day off for their birthday — it comes with the job.

An employee’s birthday is recognized as one of 12 holidays that triggers a $110 a day premium, according to the Saginaw Fire Fighters Association contract that ran from July 1, 2006, through June 30, 2012.
