NE: Kerrey says Fischer is the tea party candidate

Democrat Bob Kerrey doesn’t think most Nebraskans support the tea party.

And this week he’s telling Nebraskans in no uncertain terms that Republican Deb Fischer is the tea party candidate for the state’s U.S. Senate seat.

Nebraska Watchdog’s Joe Jordan reports.

Good for her. At least we know she stands behind the Constitution and not behind the Communist Manifesto.

  • p.s.

oh yes the TEA party, we all know they are against new taxes, small government and for the constitution, so is that bad for America??? Lets shift to what Kerry stands for, new taxes, free contraceptives, late term abortions for all, and bloated government, oh, and by the way no God , so is that even America???

  • Louis Geditz

So apparently the 2010 midterm election did not happen? I seem to remember that it was the Tea Party surge that swept Bob Kerry’s colleagues out of office from dog catcher to US Senator by the droves. And Nebraska, being one of the most conservative states in the Union, does not support the conservative Tea Party? Mr. Kerry is wishful thinking.

  • Kay

Lower taxes and a balanced budget, I guess it’s time for a tea party

  • Leslie

Throwing whatever he can….. throwing the wrong things. You have proved that you ARE a New Yorker!!! You don’t know what drives Nebraska, but you understand the Empire State! High taxes, high energy bills, bigger government – that’s why my family left and continues to leave.

  • Biff

So the tea party wants to ‘Restore America.’ Trouble is, those who want to restore America want to do so with a new vision, not the nostalgic vision most hold. So that means lower taxes for the top 2 percent, who are already pay far less in taxes than they did in the nostalgic America of 50 years ago. They want to Restore America, they just don’t want to pay for it.

  • Golfer Al

I have repeatedly asked Don Walton for a small wager on this race. Kerry wins..I buy him lunch, Fischer wins..he buys me lunch. No response at all. Hmmmm wonder why?

  • Dave Fall

Wear it proudly Deb the label is accurate. You chose to be a member of the political group containing every smug, self righteous and political goofball in the land. Obviously you agree with the wacko’s so wear the label proudly. I trust Bob to inform all voters of your true beliefs..

  • Jazzee

    PS & Racefish: great posts
Call it whatever you want BOB but we don’t want you….I for one don’t want to pay to help murder a baby………….go back to NY please you are making a fool of yourself.

  • Patrick Bonnett, Founder, CCON

Our ‘TEA Party’ principles and values are what has made America great. As a TEA Party organizer, I take great exception with Bob Kerry’s repeated attacks and mischaracterizations. He clearly does not understand our conservative movement nor does he seemingly desire to. I’m proud that Deb Fischer does and am happy to support her. You see, she feels as we do that America is at its best when all people have some stake in it, when people are challenged to take personal responsibility for themselves and for their government and when we are all afforded equal justice and equal opportunity not equal outcomes, socially selected justice and redistribution of the fruits of our labors. Achievement in America is to be honored and respected not scorned. Our TEA Party movement seeks to bring out the best in our elected leaders, we are the grassroots of our communities, we own businesses, we employ thousands and we are aren’t going away. Bob Kerry would do well to get to know those of whom he speaks.

God “The propitious smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right which Heaven itself has ordained.” from George Washington’s first Inaugural address.3) I must always try to be a more honest person than I was yesterday.
Honesty “I hope that I shall always possess firmness and virtue enough to maintain what I consider to be the most enviable of all titles, the character of an honest man.” George Washington4) The family is sacred. My spouse and I are the ultimate authority, not the government. Marriage/Family “It is in the love of one’s family only that heartfelt happiness is known. By a law of our nature, we cannot be happy without the endearing connections of a family.” Thomas Jefferson5) If you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it. Justice “I deem one of the essential principles of our government… equal and exact justice to all men of whatever state or persuasion, religious or political.” Thomas Jefferson6) I have a right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, but there is no guarantee of equal results.Life, Liberty, & The Pursuit of happiness “Everyone has a natural right to choose that vocation in life which he thinks most likely to give him comfortable subsistence.” Thomas Jefferson7) I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable. Charity “It is not everyone who asketh that deserveth charity; all however, are worth of the inquiry or the deserving may suffer.” George Washington8) It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion. On your right to disagree “In a free and republican government, you cannot restrain the voice of the multitude; every man will speak as he thinks, or more properly without thinking.” George Washington9) The government works for me. Racefish:

I’m so relieved to know that Senator Fischer is pro Constitution and anti Communist Manifesto. I hear that she’s also against eating one’s children and devil worship and that the first thing that she’ll do in her first term in the US Senate is introduce a bill to outlaw the sun rising in the West. Go Deb….

  • D. Mark

    And no Amnesty!

  • resistwemuch

Of all the political parties in the United States I abhor the Communist party even though they have changed their name to the “Progressive” party. If Ms. Fischer is the Tea (taxed enough already) Party candidate then I believe it is fair to state that Mr. Kerrey is the Progressive Party candidate.

  • John R

The Tea Party is patriotic, stands for solid values, The Constitution, Balanced Budget… what the heck is wrong with that? Bob’s attack puts him in the minority.

  • ToucheTurtle

Poor Dave . . . hasn’t got a clue. Dave, WHY are you still here?? I know you don’t believe me, but we are here to save YOU from yourself and your progressive cronies!!!! Take a deep breath, my friend. The progressive orchestrated nightmare that is plaguing you is temporary . . . this, too shall pass!!!!!

  • Dan

Joe, I’d like to ask you, when walkin j bob tells you to jump, do you ask him “how high” while you’re in the air or before?

  • ToucheTurtle

“Bob Kerrey doesn’t think most Nebraskans support the Tea Party.” Here’s a really basic question: How in the H*LL does Good Old Bob KNOW – or even care – what Nebraskans think? He may have been born here, he may have been raised here, he may have businesses here, BUT he has been drinking the Hudson River too long to even have a CLUE what folks in Nebraska think!!! It is a pretty broad leap for him to ASSUME that he speaks for Nebraskans if you ask me!

Perhaps GOB should pay some big firm from NYC to do a survey before he continues to shot himself in the foot (no pun intended). And while he is at it, one of the questions that should be asked is if GOB is going to make a real A** out of himself by even being in this race!!! You go, GOB . . . we will be glad to receive some of your moldy $$$ here in Nebraska until November 6 . . . then sell that temporary residence in Omaha and back to The City for you, my boy!!!

Hey Bob, do you know what happens when a politician comes face to face with a Tea Party buzz saw???

  • ToucheTurtle

Dear Old Bob has forgotten his manners since he moved lock, stock and barrel to NYC!!! It is going to take some not so gentle reminding for him to remember that you don’t insult folks in this part of the country for no good reason!!! But hey, we might just make a believer out of him yet . . . wouldn’t that be sweet?

  • ToucheTurtle

Geez Biff, if you are going to spout facts, would you at least get them right?

We don’t want to cut taxes just for the top 2% . . . we want to cut them for EVERYONE!!! And even though I really don’t want to, I will insist that you are included, Biff. How’s that for “reaching across the isle!”

  • Dan

And biff I’ll let you in on a dirty little secret, the rich pay MORE in tax revenue to the treasury NOW than they ever have. Noone ever paid the 90% tax in the fifties because they voluntarily QUIT WORKING before they had to pay it. That’s why John F Kennedy, yes him, slashed taxes and helped the economy until that lunatic lbj took over and skyrocketed taxes for his great society and sent us into an economic and inflation tailspin until Reagan came along, pulled a Kennedy and saved us.

  • Dave Fall

while I am chuckling at your comments I am certain at your meaning in using the phrase why are you still here?? funny turn of phrase for some one hiding behind “touche turtle”

  • Pat Boyle

You Tea Baggers are a bunch of whiners. I got your Tea Bag principles right here. You act like you came up with these ideas. I can’t wait to see hear the deafening silence when Kerry stomps on Duh, duh, duh Fischer.

  • Jason3

Deb Fischer is first of all a republican…the first thing she did is signed the Grover Norquist pledge….Patriotic, aren’t we all in Nebraska…the Bush tax cuts have given millions back to the rich…Fischer will support those tax cuts.. pledge her support to the party and keep tax cuts for the rich…in a way I wish rummy/lying ryan would win…watch the voters in Nebr see their medicare/SS go away and then whine about what happen…who, in the world would believe the Repub’s are for either….Balanced budget…Ronald Regan was a spend, spend , spend republican….where were the Repub’s where George was spending his nation into debt after debt…oh! sitting on their hands…no tea party for a balanced budget?? the constitution the repub’s trampled all over with no tea party objections…what a party..

  • Joan

To Patrick Bonnett…POPPY COCK No one elected you President and you (Tea Party) do not rule this country, Thank God! You and Dick Army can take your little cult and go to Mexico and live happily ever after cuz we are sick of hearing your backward bigoted ways.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1847312843 Kristi Martin

As for me being a liberal or I guess you could call me a Progressive, I give kudo’s to Bob! When the Tea Party got into Congress in 2010 they have done nothing but hold the Americans back. Congress openly stated that year that they will veto every bill and make Obama a 1 term President. How has all those vetos worked out for us especially here in Nebraska. Obama can’t get away from the Bush economics because the Tea Party and Republicans want to continue it. Look how good that has done for the American people. Look what’s it done to our deficit. Wake up people and understand that our Congress has become obstructionist! I applaud you Bob and you will have my vote!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1847312843 Kristi Martin

How is the Constitution a Balanced Budget? That’s not part of the Constitution. The balanced budget isn’t in place because your last choice for President was Bush and we are still living with the Bush economics. Congress won’t get rid of that. Bob will do away with this hideous economic plan and gain one that will put our deficit on track.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1847312843 Kristi Martin

You’re opinions are void on abortion. It’s a womans choice what she wants to do with her body. Do you really want Romney/Ryan to take away your rights? Do not have access to preventative well woman exams to check for cervical and breast cancer? You can’t be pro-life and have distain for the female body. And do you believe in Akin’s “legitimate rape”. None of the GOP tea baggers in Congress know anything about the female body. They should have studied science a little better.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1847312843 Kristi Martin

As a liberal and probably a Progressive, I take offence to being called a communist. Don’t you know by voting for Deb is like voting in a facist?

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1847312843 Kristi Martin

She will not lower out taxes one bit. She will increase them. And I also feel sorry for the farmers and small business owners if she takes office.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1847312843 Kristi Martin

Biff, under Bob and Obama’s plan they would reduce taxes on the middle class. Raise taxes on people that make over $250,000 on up. It’s not class warfare for the rich to pay more in taxes it’s patriotic!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1847312843 Kristi Martin

God is not in the Constitution. Obama has already provided benefits for contraception. I can tell you’re a grumpy man that doesn’t believe in the females right to choose.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1847312843 Kristi Martin

What she did with Grover Norquist is a joke and she should be ashamed of herself. And yes Congress wont’ get rid of the Bush Tax Cuts but that can end with Bob in Congress. I don’t want to see a Romney/Ryan ticket because it would devastate my family. But you’re right Jason, Nebraskans wouldn’t know what to do if SS gets taken away and then bankrupt in less than 4 years. If we got rid of the Bush Tax Cuts then maybe we could work on our deficit.

  • TigiOma

I’m just glad they don’t call themselves the TEA BAGGERS anymore…

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1847312843 Kristi Martin

He speaks for me and represents everything I want in a Congressman. Deb will extend the Bush Tax Cuts which would benefit the 1% and big corporations. Which means she would tax the hell out of the middle class. Wake up Republicans. Do your research. Congress has obstructed Americans for 2 years. Are you ready to put in another obstructionist? If you don’t like the way things look in Congress right now then look who you voted for and see why. Bob for Congress all the way!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1847312843 Kristi Martin

And how well has our Congressman done in office these past 2 years. I would have to give it an F grading. Extending Bush Tax Cuts to keep the 1% and big corporations bigger. That doesn’t work for me and it sure doesn’t work for our deficit. No wonder it’s outrageous today. Congress won’t remove the Bush Tax Cuts. Wake up and smell the coffee. Look what Deb will do in office. Keep the Bush Tax Cuts, raise taxes on middle Americans, farmers and small businesses. And how would you like to have Medicare be bankrupt in 4 years under her watch with a Romney/Ryan ticket.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1847312843 Kristi Martin

ToucheTurtle you are so out of tune to what’s going on in America right now I don’t even know how to describe it with words. Deb would do nothing but raise our taxes, extend Bush Tax Cuts for the wealthy and big corporations. Medicare will be bankrupt in 4 years and that will be on Deb’s watch with a Romney/Ryan ticket. I don’t think our older Nebraskans want a voucher system which would only give them so much and wouldn’t be able to afford a good insurance policy so they will pay out of pocket. Yep that’s the ticket you want Deb on that’s fine with me but you will be sorry.

  • resistwemuch

Kristi Martin is an excellent example of the liberal (progressive) pseudo-intellect that regurgitates the party line fed to her by such intellectuals as Rosy O’Donnell, Rachel Maddow, Chris, “tingles” Mathews and a host of others on the far left. It was a given that the term facist would be part of her rant. I’ll ask Kristi the same question I asked WFL, to which he never responded. Kristi, which definition of facist do you reference? The one by Roger Griffin or Roger Eatwell or Emilio Gentile or Ernst Nolte or R.A.H. Robinson or Stanley G. Payne or still yet George Carlin. Regardless of which one you choose, Kristi the fact is that facism properly understood is not a phenomenon of the right at all. Instead, it is, and always has been, a phenomenon of the left (liberals, progressives, socialist and communists. Don’t let you mouth write checks your brain can’t cash.
A passing thought from an anonymous source. Conservative to include members of the Tea Party sign the front of the check. Liberal Progressives sign the back.

  • Karen

you don’t have a clue as to the Bush tax cuts do you?

  • ProggieIdiot

“Democrat Bob Kerrey doesn’t think…” Enough said.

  • ToucheTurtle

I AM an older Nebraskan on Social Security and Medicare, and just in case you don’t know, Paul Ryan’s overhaul of SS & Medicare doesn’t effect ANYONE 55 or older!!! And the program will be revamped so you young pups might just receive something back from a program you will pay into all your working life at a time when you might need it the most! My daughter is 41 years old and is absolutely convinced that there won’t even BE a program when she gets ready to retire. I’d like to see SOMEONE try to prove her wrong instead of just doing the same old thing time after time, borrowing instead of solving the problem, and expecting different results!!! DUH!!!

And honey, you think I am out of tune “to what’s going on in America” . . . I hear the Democrats say that if Romney/Ryan get into office, Medicare as we know it will end!!!. Perhaps the bottom line is that no matter WHO is elected, programs for Seniors WILL end as we now know them – either they transform into a more efficient programs or they will surely die!!! Progressive ads talk about “throwing granny off the cliff” trying to scare our seniors to death, but they have NO solutions! What REALLY ought to scare seniors is that in 12 years or so, if we continue on the path we are on, there will be NO Social Security, NO Medicare, and NO Medicaid because we will be flat broke. Surely even Democrats recognize we cannot endlessly borrow without having to face the consequences of such action.

HEY, I have some REAL news for you . . . it doesn’t have a single thing to do with who is elected; it has to do with who has the GUTS to tell US the truth, and then try to solve the problem for ALL Americans!! If you think that is your party, show me viable EVIDENCE that they are going to at least ATTEMPT to save the program for all of us . . . including YOUR generation!!

  • ToucheTurtle

See the real problem here is perspective.

From YOUR perspective it appears that the impressive sweep in 2010 did not work because nothing is getting done. Of course, things got “done” when the Dems had the House, the Senate, and the Prez . . . . with little or no input from Republicans and not a SINGLE Republican vote. Believe me, it will be the Dems’ turn to be in the minority down the road . . . is that how you want the Republicans to work with your side of the isle? You might no be a praying person, but if I were your side, I would be down on my knees every night asking God to make sure that Republicans have a very SHORT memory!!! “We won! Live with it!” is not my idea of working across the isle!

From MY perspective, those new Senators and Representatives are doing EXACTLY what I want them to do . . stop the senseless spending, stop massive gov’t expansion, and stop the President from destroying our military, our economy, our energy supply, and just about anything else he can think of.

Perspective . . . . same country but miles apart on issues!

  • ToucheTurtle

I am glad you agree that God is NOT in the Constitution!! Frankly I am tired of hearing that The Constitution “requires separation of church and State!” Thank you for that small concession!

  • ToucheTurtle

Perhaps you don’t remember correctly . . . I am thinking it was some Hollywood airhead who referred to the “Tea Baggers” but you are forgiven!

  • Dan

The fact that kristi doesn’t even know what office cosmic bob is running for and that congress can’t “veto” anything, only proves how stupid she and other libs are. And fwiw, go check out bob woodwards new book on who’s REALLY at fault for the “gridlock” the last few years kristi, here’s a hint, his initials are BHO.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1709212272 Kirk Welch

I’m not hiding behind anything Dave, this is the Problem. We have seen the Republican Plank and Platform. The Republicans say they believe in “Smaller” Gov. but they absolutely DO NOT. They and You want to be involved in EVERY SINGLE FACET of OUR LIVES. I don’t begrudge the wealthy unless they have been dishonest in how they made their money. I hear the Tea Party spouting Religious Quotations and Rhetoric like Dung falling from a Cows A$$ but guess what guy, I don’t need your brand of Religious Ideology stuffed down my throat! I Like my guns to. I have not seen one Bill come from the Obama Admin attempting to take them, show me one. I can tell you this, come up to me and call me a Communist, Socialist, etc and the reaction you get will be a Kodak moment.

I don’t agree with everything Kerrey says and what I wish is he’d grow a set and get in this race for real. Fisher is a Norguist Tea Publican that will sell her soul to get to the Top of the Republican Ladder. People that espouse the Principals your so called Party Preach make me want to retch. You would take us back to the 1920s and from there it wasn’t far from the 30s and the Stock Market Crash, we’ve been there Twice and while we may not be where we want to be right now we are getting there. You people sound like teenagers that demand instant gratification topped with a healthy dose of the Holey Ghost and backed up with an AR-15.

NE is the most backwoods state I have ever seen, and people like you are the reason why we’re 20 yrs behind the rest of the Country and the US is no where near the Top of the Food Chain anymore.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1847312843 Kristi Martin

Well resistwemuch, I beg to differ. But i’m sure you follow the likes of Fox News and Rush Limbaugh. Deb signed an agreement with Grover Norquist to not raise taxes on the wealthy. Don’t you feel that’s obstructing our government. Why can’t the wealthy pay more taxes. It’s not class warfare, it’s patriotic. Facists promotes physical violence. With the extreem right wing politicians who spew their bigotry, hatred, and ignorance saying things like, shooting gays on site, killing children of immigrants, and voter suppression laws, and now Akins “legitimate rape” comment. That’s fascism. A facists goeal it to promote the rule of people deemed superior while seeking to purge society of people deemed inferior. Facism opposes conservatism and liberalism. Facism condems liberal democracy for basing government legitimacy on quanitiy rather than quality. Facists are hostile to financial capital, plutocracy, and the power of money. So if you want to google the definition of facism by all means do so because you are totally ass backwards. I support a party that wants to move forward, keep our state taxes down, and help to recover the deficit which Congress won’t get rid of the Bush Tax Cuts. I want someone who will work with our President, rather than an obstructionist like Deb.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1847312843 Kristi Martin

Well Karen, the Bush Tax Cuts were to promote economic growth, tax relief, and job growth. How did that work out for America? Under Bush’s watch we were losing 750,000 jobs per month. The Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) was designed to make sure that the wealthy couldn’t take advantage of too many tax incentives. However, the AMT rates were not adjusted causing more people (middle and lower class) to face higher taxes. This led to the reduced taxes on the wealthy. And also maintained the loop holes for the wealthy to hide their money overseas. The tax cuts to the middle and lower class failed to spur growth. In 2010, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) said that extending the tax cuts would add $3.3 trillion to the deficit. Congress wouldn’t budge on increasing taxes on the wealthy but Obama needed lower taxes for the middle and lower classes. Obama wanted to initiate the same tax rate just like Clinton had who put us in a surplus. But Congress wouldn’t allow that. In December 2012, the Bush Tax Cuts are set to expire. The CBO predicted that by extending the Bush Tax Cuts could lead to reduced economic growth and significant enough to put us in another recession. So yes I am fully aware of what the Bush Tax Cuts are. If you are so lucky to be making over $250,000 I could understand you wanting to have them extended. If you are below that income why not go back to the Clinton ways where everyone is taxed fairly and help decrease the deficit. That’s why we don’t need more obstructionist in Congress. We need people to work with our President.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1847312843 Kristi Martin

Well I am on SSI and medicaid for health reasons I don’t feel I need to explain. Are you prepared to get a voucher for your Medicare and be given a measeley amount to get a for of privatized insurance? Health insurance companies won’t be regulated so they can raise the cost of premiums and you would eventually be paying out of pocket just to get a plan. Then will they accept you if you have pre existing conditions? Will your doctors take your insurance? How much out of pocket will you pay for your meds? At least Obama has saved Medicare through 2024 whereas there is proof and all you have to do is google it and don’t go to a Romney site but to politifact.com and see that under their watch Medicare will go bankrupt in 4 years. Romney wants to decrease Medicaid by a third and cap that so the states would get a blocked grant. The states will then be in charge of the financial requirements and decide who can be on Medicaid. That would affect me and my son. I make too much money on SSI as it is and have to spend down $90 a month on needless insurance policies just to be covered by Medicaid. I make too much for foodstamps but yet can’t afford to go grocery shopping every 2 weeks. Romney’s plan would not work for me nor will it work for you. Like I said go google his plan and use politifact to find your answers. They are an unbiased site.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1847312843 Kristi Martin

For your information, yes we did have Dems in House and Senate for 2 years. In the Senate you need 60 Senators to filibuster. We only had 58. So that’s why things never got done or passed to the House. How is Obama destroying our military when he is ending the needless wars? Bush didn’t even go to war in the right area lol. Yes we don’t need the military surplus at the rate we have been spending. We are the only country out of 26 countries with a good military that spends the most. Our economy would be fine if Congress would pass the Jobs Act instead of vetoing it 31 times. It was publicly stated by Republicans in 2010 that they will veto everything and make Obama a 1 term President. And they jeopardized Americans with their hate for Obama. I want a Congress that will work with my President not one who obstructs us. And yes Nebraska Congressmen are obstructing us! Obama’s spending is less than any President since Eisenhower. Google that fact! Oil drilling is at an all time high. Obama has made so many improvements with our energy.Obama made the Research and Development tax credit which intends to spur renewable energy in the private sectors. He established an energy partnership for America, which increases the research and development in clean coal technology, the next generation of sustained biofuel, and in wind, solar, and nuclear energy. Encourages farmers to use more renewable energy and to be more energy efficient, which is working great in Iowa. Wanted to create 5 million “green” jobs. Wanting to reduce dependency on foreign oil. All of this without the help of Congress!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1847312843 Kristi Martin

Maybe if you could spell correctly and use correct grammar this would be a decent conversation. In 2010, Congress openly stated they will veto any bill that Obama wants and will make him a 1 term President. How is that working out for you Dan? It’s not working out for me. All Congress is doing is obstructing Americans because of their hate for our President. And yes Congress can veto any bill. Google it. And maybe you need to use politifact.com to check your facts which is an unbiased website.

I just love how Tea Party means: patriotic, solid values, only view possible, impossible to be wrong, impossible to be bought, impossible to be corrupted…Though they are so absolute with their assertion of power and conviction…corrupted? absolutely.

  • Justin Burton

And you all masturbate up and upon your own “God” and “Values” and “Constitution” and party’s spoon fed lines…so save it.

  • Justin Burton

Hey Pat, if its Tea Party, thats enough…you can’t argue it, they self-justify, and don’t fact-check, care, or respect your opinion if you aren’t one of them.

  • Dan

Kristi, you are a buffoon, dems had 60 senators from may 2009 after benedict arlen specter turncoated until Scott brown in early 2010 so repubs couldnt do ANYTHING to stop anything then. Bernie sanders is an admitted socialist and Lieberman is a liberal whose only an indy because he lost his dem primary in 2006 so i asume that’s where you come up with your WRONG # of 58. And i did read it, and you’re still wrong, congresses can’t veto anything, they simply refuse to pass it, only presidents can veto. As for taxes, what do you think of the 27 middle class taxes in obamacare, or bob kerreys tie-breaking vote in 1993 on taxing ss checks as income, slamming the middle and poor hardest, what do you think of kerrey voting to raise the national gas tax dozens of times, what do you think of kerrey raking in MILLIONS personally from tarp, huh??? And lastly, copying and pasting something from that liberal rag politifact proves how dumb you are.

  • Dan

Bob woodwards book, obama to mitch mcconnell, and i quote “i won, you lost.” Obama wh chief of staff rahm emanuel in feb 2009 about repubs, “we have the votes, F em”. Well kristi?

And what of the body of the baby? Who speaks for the babies rights? The little baby that murderers try to call a medical choice. Murder is murder on the street or in the womb!

  • Randy Gibreal

Damn. You’re dumb as hell. You believe All the liberal lies. You can’t possibly think what you just said is true. Nobody, and I mean nobody can honestly think that garbage is true. You see, that’s your problem. You are so far out there that normal folk just feel sorry for you. You are the real 1%. The looney left that turns both sides and the middle off. So far left that you can’t see how badly you are hurting your own causes, It’s to bad that the democrats let 1% loons take over the entire party. The democrat party died yesterday on the floor of the DNC for the whole world to see. And the 1% loons like should be proud of yourselves. You did what the republicans never could. Killed your party. Thank you.

  • Randy Gibreal

If Kerry wins you won’t have any money to buy him lunch with.

  • Randy Gibreal

If you are going to post please be honest and stop lying. That does nothing to further the debate.

  • Randy Gibreal

In 2010 Pelosi and the dumbasscrats still controlled conress kristi. And Congress has no “veto” power what so ever. Only dingleBARRY obama has veto power. What a waste. You have been told several times about veto power and still screw it up. Sad.

  • Randy Gibreal

Kristi. One more time. Congress has no veto power. Read the damn constitution. It tells you the president has veto power. Senate and congress vote on bills and the president can either sign or “VETO” the bill, unless they pass both house and Senate with the required super majority. Damn woman, It’s the law.

  • Dan

    1. The “Bush tax cuts” were passed by a DEMOCRAT senate run by none other than your beloved tom huff daschle who subsequently lost his reelection to john thune. Anyway, what you are conveniently oblivious to is that receipts to the treasury HAVE NEVER BEEN HIGHER!!! So how could those tax cuts have added to the debt if the result was more money coming into the treasury, kristi??
    2. You wanna know the dirty secret how obamacare achieves the “savings” in medicare, they stole 716 billion from future medicare outlays and appoint an unaccountable uncontrollable 15 member death panel called an IPAB to RATION CARE, and throws millions of elderly onto your beloved medicaid all the while slashing reimbursements to the point where doctors have already made clear they are no longer accepting either. And the worst of it is this, they slashed the program additional 40-60 billion a year arbitrarily, then passed a totally separate bill called a “doc-fix” that restores the cuts and presto, claim obamacare reduces the debt, while the separate doc-fix totally wipes that out and then some because that all has to be borrowed with interest.
    3. Ben nelson signed the norquist pledge.
    4. Boo hoo, you can’t get food stamps, maybe perhaps you could give up other things like your iphone or droid for a cheaper phone, internet, cable tv, maybe sell some things. It is true, govt programs are like crack, one taste and your hooked, and hell will freeze over before you take the treats and goodies away, but you’re right kristi, at least obama gave you free birth control, at least you got that, does medicaid, excuse me, the taxpayer pay for that btw?? Thank god you can have all the sex you want and not get pregnant, thanks to john and jane q taxpayer.

Resorting to the old grammar and spelling ploy I see. Guess it makes you feel superior.

  • http://www.facebook.com/pixtaker John Russell

Punishing success is not patriotic, Kristi, it is foolish. If you REALLY wanted people to “pay their fair share” you would be screaming for a FLAT Federal Income Tax on ANY earned income over $10,000. That’s not what you want though, is it Kristi? You don’t want want people to pay their fair share…you want class warfare.

  • MikeB6485

Your comment is one of the biggest pieces of BS that I have ever read.

  • hancock

Guess the Sons of Liberty would not be supported by Kerry. After all the were a bunch of rebels that were tired of a government that taxed them, tried to hold them down, and rule them from an out of touch realm. Oh by the way that bridge to no where in Kerry’s honor all the action is in Iowa.

  • http://nebraskattitude.blogspot.com/ shellymic

How much more out-of-touch does Bob Kerrey need to appear before he disappears altogether?

He believes that the majority of Nebraskans don’t support fiscal
responsibility & a balanced budget? Those are THE two main tenants of
    the Tea Party, Bob.

You’ve apparently had plenty of the Kool-Aid, Bob. Retire & disappear from
politics…you can move to Hawaii with BO in January. That way, you
won’t have to pretend to care about a state in which you pretend to
    live.

Bob is another Ben Nelson – an opportunist. Says the things he thinks Nebraskans are stupid enough to fall for…then when it comes time to stand up for the things Nebraskans want, he’ll shaft us all – just like Benny did.

One more thing, Bobby, Sarah Palin endorsed Orrin Hatch in Utah rather than the Tea Party candidate. Now, what does that make Deb Fischer? Oh, and in case you are unaware, Robert, Deb Fischer also was not endorsed by any Tea Party in this state (this is the state of Nebraska, in case you’re confused). So, again, with a Sarah Palin endorsement, what does that make Deb Fischer?

With Sarah’s approximately 70% win-rate, I’d say that makes YOU retired. Buh-bye. Don’t let the door hit ya on your way back to George Soros’ house. :(

Randy you must not know your facts about what a fascist is. And i’m the 99% that Romney/Ryan/ Fisher will increase our taxes. Take away my SSI. I will not allow that to happen. And your conservative party has gone so far left that they have turn into bigots and racists. Let alone taking womens rights away. I watched both the RNC and the DNC. I’m surprised and shocked that with all the fact checkers out there that you wouldn’t be more embarrassed by the Republicans. Sorry but Democrats are looking forward not backwards.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1847312843 Kristi Martin

Randy you sound so pathetic with your words. I don’t need meds to know which one is the better party. You should be ashamed of your party for all the lies they have spread. You should be ashamed of supporting someone who signed a deal with Grover Norquist to not tax millionaires. Oh but if you are a part of the millioniares then I can see why you like Shafer. Your party makes me sick. Maybe I need some anti-nausea meds to last me through to the election.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1847312843 Kristi Martin

You must not be for any womens rights then. And what about Romney profiting from a business of this that got rid of abortion wastes. How about Romney flip flopping on his idea to protect women then go against the women. You’re party is so screwed up in the minds that you don’t realize what’s fact from fiction anymore. I feel sorry for you.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1847312843 Kristi Martin

When you say Dems had Congress you didn’t account for what was going on in the Senate. We needed 60 to filibuster and we only had 58. So maybe you should get your facts straight.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1847312843 Kristi Martin

There is no lying where i’m coming from Randy. Maybe you and your party need to get your facts straight!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1847312843 Kristi Martin

To your response about Obamacare they take not a dime from Medicare. It increases the Medicare tax rate by .9% and an added 3.8% for high income taxpayers. The savings from that is $210.2 billion dollars, There is an annual fee on health insurance providers. It imposes an annual fee on manufacturers and importers of branded drugs. It imposes a 2.3% excise tax on manufacturers and imports of certain medical devices. And it limits the annual contributions to flex plans down to $2500.
And you are showing your conspiracy theories with the 15 death panel. There is a payment advisory board to suggest ways to limit Medicare spending growth, but the board may be overruled by Congress. It makes no decisions about individual care, it is specifically forbidden from making any recommendations that would ration care, reduce benefits, raise premiums or cost sharing or alter eligivility from Medicare. There was a frontman by the name of Pat Boone to used ads to scare Medicare recipients for the 60 Plus Association. But i’m sure you listen to people like John Boehner, Chris Christi, Mitt Romney and Rick Scott. Repealing the law adds significantly to the debt.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1847312843 Kristi Martin

Ben Nelson did sign it to cut down on spending. What Grover never said to anyone who signed it and disobeyed it they would be voted out of Congress by the public. Which means Grover and his super pacs would run dirty campaign ads in the states where someone disobeyed him. Nelson says the Taxpayer Protection Pledge should be subject to interpretation. It doesn’t have exculpatory language in case of a depression or a war. Meaning the middle and lower classes would see thier tax burden go up while it reduces the millionaires and billionaires.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1847312843 Kristi Martin

And to your response about food stamps is childish. An average couple making $50,000 a year only spends $36 dollars a year on the food stamp program. I have many medical conditions that won’t allow me to work. I have Rheumatiod Arthritis with deformed hands, fibromyalgia, and early onset dementia. So yes me and my son could use the food stamps. Why are you against the lower class? Don’t they deserve the care they need?

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1847312843 Kristi Martin

Bob Woodwards book sticks to narrow focus on the debt ceiling negotiations, declining really to grapple with broader questions about the Obama administrations handling of the economic crisis it inherited after the 2008 crash. Boehner walked away from the deal and let Eric cantor and the Tea Party to then make thier own rules about the stimulus bill and whatever else Obama has worked for for the American people. Boehner said he would put revenue in there is there were real changes in entitlement programs which Obama will never cut. So basically you are listening and reading about the obstructionist Republicans that Woodward has quoted. And also in the past, Woodward has been known for writing straight ahead narratives, with little analysis, context or assessment. Now this is why I see you are a true Conservative because you believe all this BS.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1847312843 Kristi Martin

Obama has not raised taxes on the middle class at all. Romney states family income has fallen by $4000. Little did he know this figure includes 13 months of wage decreases that took place before Obama took office.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1847312843 Kristi Martin

In 1993 Clinton created the bipartisan commission on entitlement reform. The co chairs were Bob Kerry (D) and John Danfoth (R). The commission made little progess. The 2 co chairs developed thier own SS proposal which featured raising the retirement age to 70, a cut in the SS payroll tax, with the money redirected into mandatory private accounts and adopting price indexing. There was insufficient support for their proposal so it failed to achieve consensus. So your claim would then be null and void.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1847312843 Kristi Martin

Deb Fisher ran an ad that claimes she opposes gas tax increases. But records show she introduced and supported legislation to increase gas taxes at least a dozen times on two different bills as a member of the legislature. In addition she proposed a 5% whole sale tax on gasoline. She also wants an expensive sewer tax bill costing all of us Nebraksans.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1847312843 Kristi Martin

Bush initiated and signed legislation establishing TARP in 2008. Ads that Karl Rove and his super pacs are running false ads. Kerry said if Rove had a problem with this he should have convinced his boss, Presiden Bush, not to sign legislation establising TARP in the first place. In fact contributors to Crossroads GPS include companies that took TARP money, JP Morgan Chase received 25 billion and Morgan Stanley received 10 billion. That’s who is supporting your Deb Fisher. Fisher owes everything to Wall St. Her election was paid for by a wall street broker. Now all of Wall St. will expect something in return. If Fisher goes to Washington, she won’t be serving main street Nebraska.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1847312843 Kristi Martin

Obama did not have control of Congress for 2 years. Everyone forgets the President needs 60 votes in the Senate to pass legislation. So at the beginning of his Presidency, Dems had 57 elected Senators. 2 of those are Independents. Why do you think he had to compromise with Republicans on the Stimulus Bill? In Jan 2009, Senator Kennedy suffered a seizure. In April 2009 Repbu. Sen Arlen Specter switched parties. In May 2009, Robert Byrd was admitted to the hospital. In July 2009, Al Frankem (D) was sworn in. Senator Kennedy was continuting to recuperate and was unable to cast anymore votes. Senator Byrd was still in the hospital. The Senate then had 56 Dems and 2 Independents. In July Senator Byrd also returned to the Senate making the count to 59. In Aug 2009, Paul Kirk was appointed to cover Kennedy’s seat which gave Dems the 60 seat majority from Sept. 2009 to Febr. 2010. So that’s 4 months not 2 years :)

I don’t understand why you are listening to their lies. They are all checked by media. If you want to believe in their lives than that’s your choice but I will warn you if Romney/Ryan get in you will be eating my words because they will destroy America as we know it. I could post facts all day and you still woulnd’t listen. So there is not point in trying to tell you all that I know. That’s what is the matter with your party.

  • Jason3

The repuglicans need to do some research…of the 12 districts that elected tea party candidates over candidates in the last election the 12 districts all got about the same monies from the GOVT that the progressive/liberals that lost….we all need term limits….when you get to Washington you spend and spend…where were all the republican spend thrifts during the Bush admin…tell me…Ryan voted “YES” for every republican spending bill in front of him….TERM LIMITS…in Nebraska…no accountability from Smith, Fortenberry, Terry, Johanns, and now another republican that benefits from a land lease deal….throw them all out…where is the tea party when fischer gets this GREAT land lease deal…

  • Dan

Kristi, you are literally pulling feces out of your butt, the ipab’s “recommendations” AUTOMATICALLY go into effect unless specifically overruled by 2/3 vote of both houses of congress and signed by the president, and here’s the real kicker, even that can only be done for a one month period in 2015, which is obviously unconstitutional because a congress cannot bind a future congress. It was set up to be a ration panel with unlimited authority, it doesn’t even have to request a budget, it has unlimited access to the treasury for anything, again unconstitutional. And finally, You are clearly on obama or kerrey campaign worker or a seminar media matters blogger.

  • Dan

And you wanna piss and moan about kennedy and byrd dying, both Massachusetts and west virginia had democrat governors, complain to them about that. Byrd was carted onto the floor unconscious with a string on his wrist being pulled by harry reid to vote yes anyway. Harry reid already has his hand up cosmic bobs butt like a ventriloquist and his dummy.

  • http://www.facebook.com/ijinkins Ira Jinkins

He’s right, Deb Fischer, Senator Johanns, Congressman Lee Terry, Jeff Fortenberry, Governor Heinemann and Republicans are pawns for ALEC, Koch Brothers funded Tea Party and Americans for Prosperity.
