WILSON: Three top GOP senators are rallying behind the U.S. Senate candidate.
SANTA FE — Heather Wilson is bringing in some big guns to promote the need for guns and boost her poll numbers in New Mexico.
Wilson, a former U.S. representative, is enlisting the help of Republican U.S. Sens. John McCain , of Arizona; Lindsey Graham, of South Carolina; and Kelly Ayotte, of New Hampshire.
The focus of the three senators’ appearance is “sequestration” — provisions of the 2011 Budget Control Act that will require $50 billion in cuts, largely to the defense budget, if Congress doesn’t address the issue by the end of this calendar year.
Wilson is running for U.S. Senate against U.S. Rep. Martin Heinrich, D-District 1.
