FEISTY: Danny Tarkanian and Steven Horsford spent most of the debate denying characterizations made by their opponent.
CARSON CITY — Forget the tame, staid, policy-driven debates seen in most races in Nevada so far this year.
The first debate between Republican Danny Tarkanian and Democrat Steven Horsford for the new 4th Congressional District was confrontational from the get-go Thursday on the Ralston Reports television program.
Horsford, currently the state Senate majority leader from Las Vegas, and Tarkanian, son of University of Nevada basketball coach Jerry Tarkanian, mixed it up on issues ranging from state tax increases to who will best support middle-income earners in the U.S. House.
The candidates spent most of the debate denying characterizations made by their opponent, including an ad from Horsford using Tarkanian’s description of himself as a crazy radical.
