NM: Martinez defends going negative on Nuñez, wants change in ‘a big way’

MARTINEZ: “We’ve got to be able to get people who want to change New Mexico in a big way, in a quick way, in a stable way.”

SANTA FE — New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez didn’t offer any apologies Monday for sending out negative mailers on state Rep. Andy Nuñez, I-Hatch.

“You can’t just stick to one single issue,” Martinez told Capitol Report New Mexico of the falling out she had with Nuñez a little more than a week ago. She worked with the only Independent in the Roundhouse for the past two years on repealing the state’s controversial law that grants driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants.

“We’ve got to be able to get people who want to change New Mexico in a big way, in a quick way, in a stable way,” the Republican said.
