SANTA FE — One of the most politically powerful figures in New Mexico history, Speaker of the House Ben Luján, died Tuesday after a long fight with lung cancer. He was 77.
A spokesman for the speaker’s office said Luján died at approximately 10:45 p.m. Tuesday after a short stay at Christus St. Vincent’s hospital.
