Sen. Steve Lathrop

Omaha Sen. Steve Lathrop has introduced a bill that would set up two programs to provide property tax relief for Nebraskans.

His bill, LB370, would allow the Legislature to provide funding of any amount to cities and counties based on their population.

“When the Legislature debates tax policy this legislative session, we need to include property tax relief as part of the discussion,” Lathrop said in a press release. “Legislative Bill 370 would provide much needed property tax relief across the state and I look forward to being involved in the tax debate.”

Lathrop, a Democrat, is considering a run for governor in 2014.
