Bellevue woman says Sheehy told her, ‘I need time to think.’

“I fell in love with the wrong guy,” Bellevue Dr. Theresa Hatcher tells Nebraska Watchdog.

Hatcher, a former member of the Bellevue City Council, says that guy is Rick Sheehy.

Sheehy resigned as lieutenant governor on Saturday. His phone records indicate Sheehy made numerous phone calls to Hatcher and other women during all hours of the day on his state cell phone in recent years.

Hatcher says she and Sheehy were romantically involved for nearly four years, until the summer of 2012.

In July 2012 Sheehy’s wife, Connie, filed for divorce after 28 years of marriage.

Hatcher said she told herself, “He’s getting a divorce. I’m in.”

But a short time later Hatcher says she heard rumors that Sheehy was having an affair with another woman.

As recently as a month ago Hatcher says Sheehy was telling her, “Oh those are just rumors. I’m living alone. I need time to think.”

Hatcher says her relationship with Sheehy is over and she doesn’t understand his latest relationship.

She also said, “I love Connie, she’s wonderful.”

Hatcher says she called Sheehy this morning to tell him to keep his chin up.

“He didn’t answer,” said Hatcher.

Sheehy has not responded to calls from Nebraska Watchdog either.

Isn’t it ironic that the Party that preaches morality, sanctity of marriage and traditional family values is also the one most responsible for the secret picadillos that show just how false their message is.

  • D. Mark

Sounds like he needed time to think on how to keep all of these women happy!

  • Jazzee

both parties have their losers..can we get beyond one vs the other..it’s so old….it’s about people, character not dang parties grow up

  • Kevin

At lest he resigned, instead of lie and stay in office like Clinton did.

  • OutWst

I see what you mean, Jazzee, but Watching From Lincoln’s point is well-taken: It’s the hypocrisy of the Bible-beating, family values-touting GOP that’s the real issue. Same goes for those (males) in the GOP who beat the anti-homosexual drum and then show up in very compromising situations on the Five O’Clock News.

  • ToucheTurtle

While we are throwing stones, perhaps we should also consider the MULTIPLE indiscretions of U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.)!!!

Oh, I forgot . . . Dems, when caught with their “t*tty in the wringer” blow it off by lying and continue with business as usual!!! Is THAT the kind of person WFL is talking about??? Or perhaps what WFL is really saying is that at least TRY Republicans “preach morality, sanctity of marriage and traditional family values” – and resign when caught not doing so – while Democrats don’t even bother to try anymore!!!!!

Jazzee is right . . . both parties have more than their share of losers to go around. Maybe one should consider the environment and take measures to get rid of source of such unacceptable behavior! They may be elected by us but they certainly aren’t an upstanding example of moral courage!

Did Sheehy quit because of the phone calls or because of the affair? As a divorced man, who cares if he calls women on his cell phone? Don’t they have unlimited minutes? This cost the state exactly nothing.

Having an affair for the last 4 years of his marriage is immoral, but I’m pretty sure it’s not illegal.

  • Bill from Omaha

C’mon… Who cares? Do we want to disqualify everyone who commits a sin from public office? All I have read indicates his problems are all part of his “personal life” and has nothing to do with his job with the state other than a few personal cell phone calls. I have to believe that if all the State of Nebraska’s phone bills were examined, most if not all employees will have made personal calls. So we should fire everyone who has made a personal call on a state cell phone or land line and start over? This whole thing is a bunch of muck raking with no muck!

  • Goblin Shark

    I see your point!

Let those without sin cast the first stone. WFL, your arrogance is only exceeded by your hypocrisy. We are all flawed. You are no different. We can only guess at your transgressions, they could be far worse!!

  • Jazzee

and like obama continues to lie

  • Jazzee

I too question what this is all about. Phone calls to women not 1-800 numbers I don’t get it other than he used his work phone okay wrong, having an affair wrong but something doesn’t add up

  • Jazzee

    Oh great point

  • Jazzee

I agree I am sooooooooooooooo tired of left/right this or that
if we still believed in morals and character it should NOT MATTER
especially with this power hungry politicians who don’t give a hoot about us or this great country left or right……….what happened to US the United States of America…..suddenly everyone is so divided by a stupid dang party that cares less……when will the sheep wake up???? the dems don’t care neither do the repubs………….we should ban together and make them care………..us left/righties should WAKE UP and fight together but we don’t we ALLOW the idiots to divide us………for their POWER and MONEY wake up !!!!! It’s so transparent and are being duped by all of them

  • Kevin

You have proven my point…. The lying Democrats do not have the dignity to leave.

  • WeaselClubber

Why couldn’t Sheehy be more like Robert Menendez? A model pollutician if ever there was one.
